The national postal service of Switzerland, Swiss Post integrates developed by startup Modum blockchain shipping solution for delivery of pharmaceutical and other temperature-sensitive products.

Blockchain-a Zurich-based company is developing sensors that use smart contracts and IoT technologies. According to her statement, the partners are cooperating since last summer and have already conducted several successful pilot delivery with temperature control. Now, the company continue to work on deeper integration of recording devices temperature monitoring system of Swiss Post.

“The decision will give players in the pharmaceutical sector reliable and scalable process monitoring of goods and to demonstrate legal compliance for auditors. A fully digital and wireless solution for data management based on the blockchain also provides new levels of output and processing of data” — say in Modum.

Partners deploy the solution, if successful, could greatly facilitate the work of logistics in the pharmaceutical industry in the context of the recently adopted EU rules. According to them, pharmaceutical companies need to ensure that the temperature conditions during the transportation of the drugs was maintained within acceptable limits providing evidence of this.

Recall that solutions based on blockchain technology in the field of logistics actively developed and implemented. Informed shipping company ZIM in cooperation with Wave and SPARX Logistics has launched a pilot project to replace paper shipping documents with a solution based on DLT technology.

Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics expects that the introduction of a blockchain system to track deliveries will help to reduce logistics costs by 20%.
