Non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement and maintenance of software Еthereum officially announced the list of winners of the first wave of grants for development.

A total of Ethereum Foundation gave 13 projects more than 2.5 million U.S. dollars to work on scalability, security, study user interface, etc.

It should be noted that the program grants has changed somewhat. Recall that when it was first announced in January, was aimed solely at developers working on scaling Ethereum.

In a blog post, Ethereum Fund, explained the changes:

“We decided to expand support for projects that are doing impressive work on scalability, usability and security. These projects are not carried out ICO and do not sell tokens, they just focused on creating useful products and services.”

Also in the post says that these grants can help the community Ethereum to improve the development of decentralized applications (dapps) and smart contracts. The Fund also has mentioned a variety of topics, which examines each of the grant recipients, and stressed that:

“We hope these grants will signal to the community that we believe the missing piece in the ecosystem that need additional attention.”

It is noteworthy that the funds will not only get the project working exclusively on the main network. In Ethereum Foundation noted that some of the grants went to “Acterna”, working on a helpful third-party developments.
