Representatives of the American company believe that the new option will help the users of Coinbase Wallet (formerly known as Toshi) to save money in case of loss of device or private keys.

“Now with cloud backup, you have the ability to store an encrypted copy of the phrases of recovery in your personal account cloud service. If you want to recover your funds, you will need a password. If you lose the device or leave the app, you can easily regain access to your funds using your cloud account (iCloud or Google Drive) and password”, — stated in the Coinbase blog.

The company argued that only the Coinbase user will have access to password and tools.

“The cloud provider also will not have access to your funds. Only you will know the password that decrypts the phrase”recovery

Recall that only recently, in the Wallet Coinbase has added support for bitcoin. Earlier this purse, was supported only by ether, Ethereum Classic and tokens ERC20.
