The European Central Bank (ECB) has no plans to release its own digital currency. This was announced by ECB President Mario Draghi (Mario Draghi), explaining that in order for the European Central Bank considered the option of technology underlying the cryptocurrency required a “substantial study”.

“The ECB and the Eurosystem is currently not planning to release the digital currency – said Draghi the significance of what the conversation is about the present time. – At the same time, we carefully analyze the consequences of the issue of such currency in addition to cash”.

He also noted that there is no real need for the Eurozone to issue additional currency, because the demand for cash in the European Union continues to grow.

We will remind, in may of this year the ECB warned all banking institutions of the European Union about the possibility of working with scriptactive, only with the guarantee of separation of this activity from other investment and trading operations. The main argument for this decision was the high market volatility of this kind of financial assets.

At the same time another representative of the ECB IVS Mersch (Yves Mersch) said that the Central Bank, though not intends to introduce a digital currency, however, is already experimenting with blockchain technology in the future is planning an active development in this technology.
