During today’s conference call leading developers of Ethereum decided not to include in the current update of the Protocol code offers ProgPoW to reduce the effect of ASIC miners on the ecosystem. It is reported by CoinDesk.

According to the participants, the proposal before implementation needs careful auditing. The latter should confirm that this decision will lead to a decrease in the efficiency of mining on ASIC devices. ProgPoW is designed to make the GPU – miners are more competitive and the network, hence, more decentralized.

The code audit will be completed approximately in March or early April. Also, the developers hope to receive constructive suggestions and feedback from the community.
