The British company, having the right to use the trademark “Bitcoin” threatens the judicial proceedings of another company, selling t-shirts with the logo of the cryptocurrency. The owner of the latter reported this to the discussion on Reddit, citing received an ultimatum letter.
In the letter, the recipient is required to stop the spread of thematic attributes, as well as to recall all sold to date, products with their subsequent transfer to the trademark owner. Otherwise, the sender promises to go to court.
“I just don’t believe because you know that the logo of bitcoin is public domain, and a similar statement for the registration of the trademark in the United States was rejected” – said the author of the post.
As it turned out, the company A. B. C. IPHoldings South West LLC really successfully registered the trademark “Bitcoin” in the last month:
A. B. C. IPHoldings South West LLC is a subsidiary of Monolip LTD, the postal address which matches the address of the rented cell the London branch of Mail Boxes Etc.
The firm has applied for the registration of all two trademarks, the second of which is “Westworld”, probably because of the Association with the popular TV series of HBO. The second application has been published but has not yet been reviewed by the relevant services.
We will remind, in November 2017, another British company The Sun & Sand Foundation tried to register trademarks BitcoinGold and BitcoinCash.
