Five banks of Mindanao, located in the South of the Philippine archipelago, has joined the pilot blockchain project Union Bank of the Philippines and the startup ConsenSys. It is reported by the Philippine News Agency.

“The i2i project is an effective and safe blockchain-system for processing retail payments in real time”, — said Chairman of UnionBank of yusto Ortiz, adding that the technology of distributed registry may improve the attractiveness of the financial system.

The main goal of i2i is to involve citizens in the Philippines banking system and the connection of the local financial institutions to a single network.

Among banks-partners have already stated Cantilan Bank, Inc. of Surigao del Sur, PR Savings Bank, City Savings Bank, FairBank and Progressive Bank.

We will remind, earlier ConsenSys announced the partnership with the giant in the field of cloud computing, Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud and launch blockchain-service Kaleido.
