He further noted that the decision to pay the salaries of new employees in the digital currency due to the desire to promote the bitcoin community and “improving the broader cryptoamnesia”.
Dorsey also noted that this initiative will be open source, independent from the business goals of the company. Engineers will be fully focused on “what’s best for the crypto-community and individual economic opportunities and not on commercial interests Square”.
Founder and head of the Square is a well-known bitcoin enthusiast and had repeatedly expressed confidence that the BTC will become the single currency of the Internet. The company in January last year launched a feature bitcoin trading in its payment app Cash App and for the year was $1.69 million net profit from transactions in the cryptocurrency.
