During the virtual conference on Friday, October 19, the developers announced that the implementation of the updates Ethereum Constantinople is delayed until the beginning of 2019. The team members, originally planned to spend hardwork in November, decided to postpone it since in launched in testnet code was discovered a few bugs. It is reported by CoinDesk.

The team considered that it is not necessary to hurry, and moved hardwork at the end of January or February.

Addressing the participants of the conference, the developer of African Sedin said:

I can’t shake the feeling that we are rushing things, and offer to take a breath and wait.

Update Constantinople consists of five irreversible changes of the network from optimizing the performance of smart contracts to more ambiguous developments. Thus, it is expected to reduce by a third the award for the block.

The delay could affect other proposed changes. Martin Canvas the Svend, the head of the security Department of the Ethereum Foundation, said that now the team will have time to add in Constantinople the proposal called ProgPow.

The purpose of the algorithm ProgPow (Programmatic Proof-of-Work the classic PoW) — to increase the stability of Ethereum for ASIC mining to support so small miners using graphics cards and CPUs, and reduce the risk of centralization of the network.

The Svend said:

I would venture to suggest that if we postpone Constantinople until January or February, I might try to incorporate ProgPoW.

ProgPoW previously been discussed at meetings of key developers, and the decision was made to add it to the next after Constantinople hard forks (in case of consensus).

On Friday, Hudson Jameson, a specialist Ethereum Foundation of communications, acknowledged that developers have a lot to do to prepare for the launch of Constantinople in the core network Ethereum.
