In the report of investigation Department financial crimes Lithuania (FCIS) says that for two years the customers of European banks carried out transactions with cryptocurrencies in the amount of €661 million this writes Bitcoin.com.

In the field of view of the regulator of Lithuania hit 600 individuals and legal entities that conducted transactions from €80 thousand.

In the report on the investigation of large-scale transactions with digital assets and Fiat currencies are banks: Danske Bank from Denmark, Swedbank and SEB of Sweden, Credit Suisse from Switzerland, ING Group in the Netherlands, Luminor, Pervesk and Mister Tango from Lithuania and from Latvia Citadele.

The document FCIS also reported that three of the resident of Lithuania and Sweden carried out large transactions from €14 million to €27 million FCIS Director Mindaugas Petrauskas also said that one Lithuanian declared the income from the purchase and sale of cryptocurrencies in the amount of €6 million.

He noted that most of the clients of the banks preferred not to report the origin of their initial capital. Probably, according to Petrauskas, part of the funds they received from the cryptotrading or from investments in ICO.

Director FCIS stressed that there is a high risk of money laundering in the industry tomenselo and when dealing with cryptocurrencies. Note, in 2018, Lithuanian investors are actively investing in ICO projects. If last year the total investment amounted to €82 million in early 2018 this figure was equal to €500 million.

“The question is, where did these funds, because it is very big money”, — said Mindaugas Petrauskas, adding that this is trying to figure out FCIS.
