Ukrainian postal and telecommunications on Saturday, June 16, detained a group of hackers who created fake cryptocurrency exchangers. Under investigation were the four residents of the city of the Dnieper in age from 20 to 26 years.

According to the National police of Ukraine, the criminals set up web sites that look legitimate cryptocurrency exchangers, and wrote for them about credit rating reviews. People transferred their money to the wallets that were registered using fake foreign documents. Once the money was in the account, the fraudsters stop the operation of its website and launched a new similar service. According to police, the attackers managed to create at least six of such resources. While the exact amount of the damage is unknown.

The cyber-police have raided the homes of suspects and confiscated all the personal computers, smartphones, storage devices and Bank cards. Now the gadgets are on the examination. Criminal proceedings were instituted under article “Fraud” of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Recall that earlier this year it became known about creation in Ukraine of a new working group on the regulation of cryptocurrencies. One of its tasks is to develop a mechanism that will provide law enforcement agencies access to the data of cryptocurrency exchanges, including information on all transactions and personal data of customers upon reasonable request.
