The U.S. Treasury Department formally included in the individual sanctions list of the bitcoin addresses associated with two residents of Iran. It is reported by CoinDesk.

As representatives of Management on control of financial assets (OFAC), in a special black list (Specially Designated Nationals List SDN) added two residents of Iran Ali Khorasanizadeh and Mohammad Ghorbanian. For the first time in the history of the bitcoin addresses related to identifying information, including physical addresses, postal and email addresses, and nicknames.

As noted by the representatives of the Ministry, the people of Iran are connected with the transactions carried out by the ransomware called SamSam. The victims of malware were about 200 bodies, including companies, hospitals, universities and the state Agency.

Also, according to OFAC, the Iranians carried out 7000 bitcoin transaction to convert about 6000 BTC in its national currency. After that Fiat money was placed in the Iranian banks.

Within two years, the bitcoin extortionists have conducted operations for more than 40 cryptomeria. Some of the platforms, the highlight of OFAC, based in the US.

The Department stated about the inadmissibility of sending money to these two bitcoin addresses, threatening violators with sanctions.

Recall the first time about the possible inclusion of bitcoin addresses in the sanctions list, OFAC announced in March.
