20 August in the suburbs of Togliatti started summer school on construction of smart cities “Ribonomic 2018”, which brought together more than 40 engineers from Russia, Belarus and Ukraine.

As the magazine ForkLog blockchain developer, leader projects Airalab and “Ribonomic” Sergey Lonshakov, the task of the summer school to find out how today’s technologies can work independently of the global network and ready available on the market the equipment to implement them.

“The intelligent city infrastructure is very sensitive. Now we examine whether in fact a city in an experimental mode to transfer real infrastructure, such as intersections or sensors of air in a mode of a smart city. For this we need a whole stack of technologies,” he said.

On the first day the participants of the intensive engineering involved in the creation of foundations for a decentralized network of smart city.

“To solve this problem, we used peer-to-peer technology, because in the future smart city is of great importance to fault tolerance. The ability to quickly scale and replace nodes allow us cellular mesh network in which each node can be added without the participation of any centralized oversight body. We were researching technologies such as Wi-Fi Mesh, B. A. T. M. A. N. Advanced and cjdns. And ended up being deployed IPFS a network of several nodes on top of cjdns, tried to exchange messages via IPFS pubsub and upload the file”, — was told by the developer Airalab Alexander Krupenkin.

“During the first day of the summer school, we are faced with the classic situations of decentralization — we have lost the connectivity of participants, the message paths in the dynamic network was not trivial, but by the end of the day, we started to communicate via broadcast IPFS pubsub, and one engineer was able to download using the IPFS of the movie “13 floor”. Tomorrow we will continue and let’s measure the speed of traffic in the mesh network of 20 nodes”, — said Sergey Lonshakov.

According to industrial engineer Airalab Alisher Khasanov, the most important in the first stage of creating intelligent cities is the shift from traditional means of providing Internet to a new generation of technologies — from centralized systems to decentralized.

In the next stages the programmers will develop the local Ethereum and deployment of it network top-level “Ribonomic” to build economic interactions between man and machine.

Engineers will work with real-world cyber-physical systems, in particular, with the 3D printer, industrial controllers, sensor networks Libelium sensors, drones flying and floating.

Testing created smart cities will be held from 24 to 26 August on the Peninsula Kopylovo.
