Thursday, July 19, at the developer conference Dappcon in Berlin, the launch of the latest test network of payment channels Raiden for Ethereum blockchain, CoinDesk reports.

The release includes a minimal implementation decisions for scaling, which will allow you to transfer tokens, Ethereum outside the main blockchain. This is the last test phase before the introduction of technology in the main Ethereum network.

“This is the first step on the way to the exit in the main chain”, — said the lead developer of the project Lefteris Karapetsas.

According to him, the new release represents an early implementation for core network and contains the new rewritten code smart contracts and payment channels, which can be restored in case of unintentional closure.

Also Karapetsas encouraged developers to join the test network to help in finding possible bugs, adding that the promotion of this activity will be running the bounty program.

“We really want people took part in the testing. We have UI and API. In addition, we have opened a Github for everything they can find. We hope to reach the main network with no bugs” — he said.

The release date for the core network is not appointed yet, but the developers intend to follow this earlier promise and start Raiden this summer.

“Until the end of August will still be summer. According to its characteristics, the solution for the core network will correspond to what now is in testate”, — said Karapetsas.

He also promised to publish regular updates and optimization of code after the full release, adding that Raiden will complement other solutions for scaling Ethereum, which is being developed currently.

“Essentially Raiden is a network of payment channels for Ethereum. It is designed to help scale the transmission of tokens. In the long term we plan to allow people to use Raiden from mobile devices and thus make ofcan transactions. This is a long term goal that may be reached together with other solutions for scaling – sharding and Plasma, that is, the hybrid solution”, — said Karapetsas.

Developed with 2015, the Raiden project is analogous to the solution of Lightning Network for the bitcoin network. According to the developers, after the implementation of the new solution the Ethereum network will be able to ensure the holding of more than one million transactions per second.

The first test network Raiden was launched in September last year.
