On October 14 4230000 unit was scheduled activation hard forks Constantinople in the test Ethereum – Ropsten. However, things did not go as expected by the developers.

First, 13 Oct mining in network Ropsten stopped on the block 4229999. The reason for this could be the reluctance of miners to activate Constantinople or any problems with obnovleniem code base.

Eventually, after two hours of waiting, the network Ropsten was mined first block with activated Constantinople. Although after that, many breathed a sigh of relief, the web is not committed transaction. Seeing this situation, the developers of Ethereum began to encourage the miners to maintain the stability of Ropsten.

Furthermore, the developer of Ethereum client Parity , chodon the Afri (Afri Schoedon) announced on Twitter that Ropsten error occurred consensus, which led to a triple fork between the Geth, even Parity and one client.

He also said that “there is no Constantinople in 2018 will not.” Other developers have not yet confirmed this information.

Later in the public channel for the developers of Ethereum Gitter, one of the participants outlined a brief summary of the main events:

  • The launch of Constantinople was to take place on Sunday, but it happened faster than expected. The reason for this is still unknown.
  • Activation hard forks stalled because the miners in the test network has not updated their software.
  • Thanks to the efforts of core developers and community members were able to influence the miners and run Constantinople.
  • After activation of the hard forks there was a problem of consensus between Ethereum client Geth and Parity in which they were in a different fork. Who was the third, unknown at this time.
  • Currently the developers are working on the definition of the problem that caused the separation.

Earlier, at the meeting on 12 November, the developers of Ethereum stated that hardwork Constantinople can be run in the main Ethereum in November 2018. They also said that everything is ready for activation hard forks in the test network Ropsten.
