The developers of the Geth, one of the most popular clients Ethereum, has introduced a new version of the software with the included code for the upcoming hard forks Constantinople.

Go-ethereum (Geth) v1.8.20 assumes that hardwork in the main Ethereum will be on the block 7,080,000.

Consensus regarding the number of the block to activate hard forks were made last week during the regular videoconference of the leading developers of Ethereum. According to estimates, the African Sedona, the release Manager of another popular network client Parity, block 7,080,000 will be found in the period from 14 to 18 January 2019.

Then the head of the security Department of the Ethereum Foundation Martin Svend said that the new version of the client go-ethereum will contain a kind of “emergency switch”, which will postpone the upgrade if something goes wrong.

Originally scheduled for November hardwork Constantinople contains a number of changes and code optimizations designed to ease the transition for algorithm Proof-of-Stake. In particular, they include the transfer for 18 months so-called “bombs of complexity”, which facilitates timely upgrades and also suggested a decrease in awards to miners from 3 to 2 ETH for the extracted block.

Earlier this week, the Commission on urgent exchange trade of the USA (CFTC) have expressed a desire to learn more about Ethereum and its underlying technologies, and markets that have been created around it. With this purpose, the CFTC published a request for obtaining the relevant information, explaining that it wants to receive public comments on various issues regarding Ethereum – from the technology itself and applications.
