The US marshals service successfully sold 2170,7 bitcoin at auction on March 19. It is reported by CoinDesk, citing the press service of the Ministry. In a press release, said that the bitcoins went to two bidders: one was 2100, and the other remaining 70,7 bitcoin.

It is unclear whether to buy bitcoins at the market price, but at the time of publication, their value at the market rate was equivalent to $18.8 million, Press Secretary of the Service said that the auction had registered 42 participants and was submitted 39 applications.

The auction was announced on March 5. The marshals stated that the coins will be sold in 14 different blocks (i.e. auction lots, and blocks in the blockchain). The smallest unit auction contained about 70 coins, and the remaining 13 were either 100 or 500 bitcoins.

Prior to this, the marshals sold bitcoins in January 2018. Then 3600 coins distributed among the five winners, of which publicly stated buying only Riot Blockchain. This time all winners of the auction were unknown.
