The Federal customs service of Russia instructed subordinate services strengthen control over the import and export of equipment for mining cryptocurrency. Compliance with the new requirements to the same extent will affect both participants of foreign economic activities and ordinary citizens.

According to customs officials, the mining hardware is subject to the restrictions that apply to the import of goods with encryption and cryptography.

“According to the regulations on the import and export of encryption products on the territory of the Eurasian economic Union, their movement is carried out only in the presence of information in the unified register of notifications or an appropriate license. Individuals importing such products, including shipping and transportation, needs to declare them using the passenger customs Declaration and to have a notification for a specific model miner”, — said in a statement.

In addition, the miners fall under the regulations of the Customs Union relating to low voltage equipment and electromagnetic compatibility of devices.

“The conformity assessment of such equipment is carried out in the form of conformity, and the equipment itself is subject to compulsory marking with a single mark of circulation on the market of the EEU”, — said at the customs office.

The Department also explained that the main types of equipment for mining includes: graphics card, including their “farm”, ASIC-miners and FPGA-Board.

We will remind, in January, Deputy Finance Minister Alexei Moiseev stated that functions to curb the activities of illegal miners should be entrusted to the authorities of foreign exchange control, in particular, customs and tax services.
