The former player of football club “Liverpool” Michael Owen has signed an agreement with Singaporean startup Global Crypto Exchange Offering (GCOX), which will be released cryptocurrency associated with the player’s name, called OWN. About it writes Bloomberg.

Issue tokens, OWN needs to be held in the next quarter. They will be used to purchase merchandise, as well as donations to organizations chosen by the athletes. In addition, the OWN tokens to be used in training centers and training programs, which deals with Owen.

Earlier it became known that their own cryptocurrency called PAC is going to launch a former Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao.

Blockchain startup GCOX offers celebrity services to launch their own digital currency that can then be used to pay for exclusive content. According to Bitcoin Exchange Guide, the idea of creating GCOX occurred in February 2017. The organizers claim to have created “the world’s first stock exchange, to help celebrities create and conduct their own listing of cryptocurrencies”.

Previously, the Commission on securities and stock exchanges of the USA have stated that the participation of celebrities in the promotion of the ICO campaigns may be a violation of the law. How the Agency will react to the new initiative, is unknown.
