Us retail giant Walmart plans to establish control over the sales of green using the blockchain in the next year.

Walmart, which occupies a leading position in the industry both in terms of profit and number of employees, has developed a block chain system in conjunction with IBM. The company has already announced to suppliers of green about the necessity of introduction of IBM system Food Trust to ensure end-to-end tracking of goods — now it is a mandatory condition of cooperation with Walmart.

The system will allow Walmart to quickly contact the manufacturer of any product that, under current conditions is almost impossible. So, earlier this year in Arizona, an outbreak of intestinal infection, the distribution of which was lettuce grown near the town of Yuma. The center for disease control, the USA is strongly recommend people not to buy this salad, but to determine the place of origin of goods on the shelf in stores was a daunting task. According to Frank Iannace (Frank Yiannas), Vice President for food safety at Walmart, even the company itself cannot be sure of the origin of the goods, because the bags of salad that says, “Yuma, AZ”. The developed system based on the blockchain is designed to solve this problem and to ensure the transparency of the supply.

We will remind, recently the company has received numerous patents related to Baccano. So, in early September, Walmart has filed another patent application for a blockchain-based platform for supply with the help of robots and drones. Earlier in June, the company received two patents: for the system to access medical data stored in the blockchain, and energy management.
