The University of Basel (Switzerland) awarded Vitalik Buterin the honorary degree of doctor of science for his contribution to the development of blockchain technology. The official ceremony was held today in the framework of the annual celebration in honor of the founding of the University.
In an official letter to the University administration Buterin described as “extraordinarily inventive and innovative thinking person, who played a crucial role in the current digital revolution”, and his first article about Ethereum was named “breakthrough of decentralized software.”
