The Ethereum development team presented the project plan of the Casper Protocol, which should make the network more scalable and effective. Unlike other similar initiatives, this initiative will use mathematical modelling (CBC).

Technical document entitled “Introducing the ‘Minimal CBC Casper’ Family of Consensus Protocols” (“Introduction consensus protocols “Minimum getmodelname Casper””) was published in a separate repository on Github Vlad Zamfara, one of the main developers of the Ethereum Foundation.

Casper CBC, the authors propose an alternative approach to consensus building within the network, integrating the protocols into “families” consisting of static (in the form of a set of messages) and transitions (connections inside a superset of) protocols. Due to the fact that most of the settings are “family members” is defined in advance, saving memory, and conflict-free consensus using different mechanisms makes this decentralized system is potentially more secure.

Since the project is still in its infancy, further development can take 2-3 years, however, the potential of the technology is already recognized by the community. During his speech at the Devcon in Prague 4, the Creator of Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin said:

“Of course, in our hearts and in our timeline will always be a place for Casper the CBC, but only after it will appear clear in the wide scope version.”

He Buterin believes that the most attractive and already implemented solution for scaling Serenity Ethereum is a Protocol that combines PoW and PoS and promises to increase network scalability.

Before presenting Serenity, Buterin spoke in support of a number of other decisions; for example, a combination of sharding and Plasma-add-ins, as well as introducing the method of “mass validation” zcash for.
