The Chairman and CEO of Goldman Sachs, Lloyd Blankfein (Lloyd Blankfein) is not among crypto-enthusiasts, but at the same time believes that digital currencies can replace Fiat.

During an interview with Bloomberg, Blankfein remembered that when the first mobile phones, it seemed absurd idea that everyone will want to go with them. Perhaps something similar is repeated now.

“If Fiat money works, why can not work of money with a contractual value? Yes, it’s not for me, I have no bitcoins. But if bitcoin is to be used, I can explain to you which the historical background has led to this”.

Recall that at the end of last year, Blankfein said that “uncomfortable” talking about the cryptocurrency. However, despite the extremely cautious attitude of the CEO to the digital money, the investment banking giant decided to enter the cryptocurrency space.

In December, after only a few weeks after the announcement Blankfein, an anonymous source told Bloomberg that Goldman Sachs will be engaged in the clearing of futures on bitcoin, and then there were rumors about the possible opening of the platform for trading cryptocurrencies.

As a result, in early may it became known that the Board of Directors of the Bank signed an agreement under which Goldman Sachs will soon begin trading futures on bitcoin on behalf of their clients, using their own funds.

As for Blankfein, in March the Wall Street Journal wrote that the current Manager is going to leave the company. Perhaps at the end of this year.
