Automattic Inc, the company behind WordPress.com with the support of Google, startup ConsenSys and other partners is launching a new “cheap” publishing platform Newspack, which will use the blockchain technology. It is assumed that it is more suited to small and medium-sized publications and aims to overcome obstacles to create economically sustainable models in journalism, especially at the local level.

In beta, the platform may be running at the end of July this year, and before February 1, interested project edition are invited to apply for participation in its development. To launch the initiative will be funded Automattic, and then the operating Commission for its participants will be $1-2 thousand per month.
