CEO Binance, Chanpen Zhao confirmed that the part missing earlier this week with the new Zealand Cryptopia funds was discovered in his cryptocurrency exchange, after which he was successfully blocked.

In particular, Zhao replied to a tweet by user @ShaftedTangu who tried to attract the attention of representatives of Binance on the fact that missing with Cryptopia means, it seems, detected.

Just checked, we were able to freeze some of the funds. I don’t understand why the hackers keep sending to Binance. Social media will be pretty fast to report it, and we will freeze it. It’s a high risk maneuver for them. https://t.co/i0PeahLzic

“Just checked, we have managed to freeze part of the funds. I don’t understand why hackers are constantly sending [coins] on Binance. Social networks react very quickly, and we are not difficult to freeze the funds. It is very risky for them [hackers] maneuvers”, — wrote Zhao.

We will remind, representatives of Cryptopia announced on Tuesday, January 15, about the suspension of work due to “significant losses” due to gaps in system security. Later, when there were rumors that the missing funds might have been involved by the exchange to investigate the incident joined the New Zealand police. Official confirmation on what exactly the amounts involved, however, have been reported.

However, as correctly noted Chanpen Zhao, “social network react very quickly,” and you can say that the damage is partially set. In particular, members drew attention to a rather interesting sequence of events, assuming that the theft of approximately $14 million (such amount, the pre-question) to ETH and tokens ERC-20 could be initiated from the inside. It is not excluded in this so-called exit-Scam – attempt of the management or someone from the staff to embezzle users.

So, on Tuesday on the subreddit r/cryptopia user toldjahP published a post that gave links to a few Ethereum transactions, which were owned by Cryptopia purses for about 17 hours before the exchange announced that “unplanned therabath”, and then acknowledged the loss of funds.

It is also noteworthy that the famous Twitter account Whale Alert drew attention to the fact that the funds from Cryptopia transferred to unknown wallets 13 January. It was at least two very impressive transactions: 19,391 ETH (about $2.5 ml) and 48,029,306 CENNZ ($1.17 million).

In his post on Reddit toldjahP also refers to the transaction in the amount of 3.8 billion tokens DAPS project Decentralised Anonymous Payments System. But even more interesting is the last link which leads to the address, which at some point turned out to be more than $11 million in various tokens ERC-20. They were all sent with Cryptopia almost the same time and belong to a variety of projects, including Dentacoin, Spank, Ethereum Dark, TenX Pay, Bytom and Golem.

Later, the already mentioned @shaftedTangu have given a detailed course of events in the thread on Twitter:

Topia hack addresses. This is topia ETH/ERC20 addresshttps://t.co/wZ7THdpYc6

It is also alleged that part of the funds was not only on Binance, but also on other exchanges.

We would add that representatives of Cryptopia has not commented on the publicized social networking information.
