In the second half of 2018 the number of information requests to Swiss law enforcement, local cryptocurrency exchange, ShapeShift has increased by 175%. About this trading platform reported in the official report.

For the first two quarters of 2018 ShapeShift received only 16 requests, and in the second half of the year their number increased to 44.

Most often, in 18 of 60 cases of requests came from U.S. agencies, six were sent to the FBI, five to the Commission on securities and exchange Commission (SEC), three different power States, two – the Ministry of internal security and another – the Commission on urgent exchange trade (CFTC).

Also queries received from law enforcement agencies from Germany (8), UK (6) France (4). One request was issued by Russia and Ukraine.

In most cases, the queries were associated with the provision of the cryptocurrency addresses, transaction IDs, and personal information such as names, email address and IP address.

ShapeShift stressed that in most cases law enforcement authorities did not inform the platform about the details of ongoing investigations and to gather the requested data.

“The increasing interest in our activities correspond to the processes observed in the entire industry of crypto-currencies”, — said representatives of the crypto currency exchange.

We will remind, earlier in January, the American cryptocurrency exchange Kraken announced that the number of requests of various government structures to it in 2018 rose three times.
