Facebook is developing its own cryptocurrency, which will be used by users belonging to WhatsApp messenger to send instant transfers, writes The New York Times, citing five anonymous sources, noting the high level of secrecy of the project.
“The Facebook project has reached the stage where the social network is negotiating with the bitcoin exchanges regarding the sale Facebook Coin”, — writes the edition.
According to sources, the staff of Facebook has informed the exchanges that they expect to launch their product in the first half of this year.
In December 2018, Bloomberg wrote that Facebook intends to develop stablon focused on users of WhatsApp. The New York Times in today’s publication acknowledges that “Facebook is planning to add the coin value to a basket of various foreign currencies, not only one dollar.”
