The office of financial regulation and supervision of the UK (FCA) launched an investigation into the activities of 24 various cryptocurrency companies, according to CityWire.

According to the publication, the investigation concerns unauthorized activities and aims to determine whether these companies have special permission from the FCA. Company names are not disclosed.

If the fact of unauthorized activities will be installed, FCA as one of the measures may be limited to a warning on its website in which users will be encouraged to refrain from using the services of these companies.

However, it is possible a scenario in which the regulator may take more stringent measures and to seek a court freeze of assets or orders to cease activities. Other measures may include criminal investigation and the procedure for the recognition of insolvency companies.

At the same time, Management noted that not all companies working with digital currencies fall under its jurisdiction.

We will remind, in April the FCA announced a joint UK Treasury and the Bank of England the preparation of a report on cryptocurrencies. Management also stated that the companies offering related cryptocurrency derivatives services, you will need special permission for this activity.
