August 28 intellectual property Office of the European Union will consider the claim Telegram Messenger Inc American startup Lantah LLC for the registration of a trademark GRAM.
At the end of April Telegram Messenger Inc has applied to the intellectual property Office for registration of the mark GRAM. Messenger planned release of cryptocurrency with the same name as part of the launch blockchain-platform Telegram Open Network (TON).
However, in June Lantah LLC filed a similar request. The start-up representatives said that the company has publicly used the name Gram before heard about the Telegram. July 9, the company challenged the request Telegram.
It is expected that in the framework of the proceedings, members of the intellectual property Office of the EU will hear the arguments on both sides.
We will remind, the confrontation between the companies began in may, when the Telegram has filed a lawsuit in U.S. district court in San Francisco, saying that Lantah LLC violated the rights to their trademark with the aim to make money by selling tokens under a similar name.
