SBI Crypto Investment, a subsidiary of SBI Holdings, has acquired a 12 percent stake in U.S. developer of digital markets Clear Markets.

The purpose of the investment, estimated at $9 million — a platform for trading cryptocurrency derivatives aimed at institutional investors.

In Japanese companies believe that the market of cryptocurrency derivatives can substantially to hedge risks associated with high volatility of digital currencies that are not sufficiently developed. So the plan SBI Crypto to build a platform that will allow family offices, hedge funds and other major investors to trade effectively those financial instruments.

SBI Holdings, a division of financial giant SBI Group actively invests in companies and startups associated with cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology. FINTECH company recently became a strategic investor in blockchain startup Templum and announced the increase of funding of Bitcoin mining Cash (BCH).

Through its subsidiary SBI Holdings Virtual Currencies the company has recently launched in Japan cryptocurrency exchange VCTRADE.
