Service encrypted email ProtonMail is considering issuing its own token and conduct of the ICO. It is reported by CoinTelegraph citing technical Director Bart Butler.

Rumours about the conduct of the service ICO came after the company posted a vacancy blockchain developer, the description of which mentions the experience of the development of smart contracts, Ethereum, and participation in a successful ICO.

After the negative comments from users Butler wrote on Twitter that the company is “exploring the possibility of issuing tokens instead of the usual venture capital funding.”

We are exploring issuing a token as an alternative to traditional VC funding, and no, we’re not looking for a payday.

It is assumed that a new token will be called ProtonCoin, and the project website was launched on July 19. While the domain name was registered on 27 February 2017. Unfortunately, the website lacks any information about the functionality of the token, its technological foundations of logistics and sales.

“Tokens will be the opportunity to participate in the growth and expansion of ProtonMail, as well as the whole ecosystem of Proton based around security and privacy”, — said representatives of ProtonMail.

It is noteworthy that about a possible release of cryptomonad ProtonMail was reported on Reddit back in March.

Note that the official representative ProtonMail told CoinTelegraph that at the moment of clear plans to host ICO no. However, he stressed that “if we do this, we’ll do this year”.

Recall that ProtonMail is far not the beginner in the use of cryptocurrencies. So, last year the service encrypted e-mail began to take payment for additional services using bitcoin.
