According to the survey, more than a third of large German companies believe the blockchain is the same revolutionary technology as the Internet.
The technology of distributed registry, along with the Internet of things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI), the respondents included in the three domains of development, with “huge potential.”
The survey was conducted by the German Association for information technology, telecommunications and new media (Bitkom). According to the results, 15% of companies agreed that the blockchain is able to “transform the society and economy as much as the Internet”. Among large companies with number of employees more than 500 people this opinion is shared by more than two times more — 36%.
The place of Germany in the development of new technologies, the respondents gave quite restrained — 46% believes that the country is late in making blockchain technology, lagging behind other States. 40% of survey participants do not see the country among the leaders in terms of the development of the blockchain by placing it in the middle.
It is noteworthy that according to the November survey of Bitkom, 60% of German companies are hesitant to approach the topic of the blockchain is mainly due to the feeling of the lack of practical applications.
One of the companies that are courageous enough threads blockchain is the largest exchange operator Deutsche Börse country, recently together with the Central Bank successfully tested two DLT prototype for securities settlement. Solution development was conducted in partnership with the Deutsche Bundesbank in 2016 on the platform Hyperledger Fabric.
