In early October, North Korea plans to conduct its first international conference dedicated to cryptocurrency and the blockchain.
According to Radio Free Asia, the event will be held in the capital Pyongyang – and will last for 2 days starting from 1 October.
The conference organizers plan to involve experts on cryptocurrency and the blockchain from around the world. How they intend to resolve that issue, that the citizens of several countries, including the United States, it is forbidden to visit North Korea, is not yet clear.
According to Radio Free Asia, the purpose of the event is to demonstrate the technical capabilities of the state hermit. The conference was scheduled to conclude with a meeting with business leaders in the country.
Recall that in the last year North Korea with the help of hackers actively produces cryptocurrency with the purpose of replenishment of the budget.
So, at the end of December 2017, it became known that hackers from North Korea are attacking the employees of kryptomere via Facebook. In October of the same year, the police confirmed the Association of this country with the attacks on the South Korean stock exchange.
According to FireEye Inc., in the period from April to July 2017 North Korean hackers have made at least six attacks on cryptocurrency exchanges in South Korea.
And in February of 2018 representatives of South Korean intelligence told Parliament that state-sponsored North Korean hackers last year stole billions of won in cryptocurrency via phishing attacks.
