Leading us financial holding company JPMorgan Chase & Co has begun to study the cryptocurrency sector, although still skeptical in relation to digital currencies. This was the co-President of the Bank Daniel Pinto said in an interview with CNBC.

Pinto noted that the Bank is primarily interested in the blockchain technology because it is able to improve the financial system.

“We are exploring this space. I have no doubt that this technology will somehow play a role”, — he stressed.

At the same time a top Manager of JPMorgan noted that the underlying cryptocurrency anonymity may negatively affect the business reputation of major financial institutions.

“The asset will not live long, because people will cease to believe in it, or it’ll just kill the regulators. I think this concept is justified, and many Central banks are exploring this topic. For me, the tokenization of the economy is quite real. Cryptocurrency is real, but not in their current form,” he said.

According to Pinto, JPMorgan can also start to carry out the clearing of futures on bitcoin, although the idea of the Bank was rejected.

Recall that in early may JPMorgan announced the intention to patent the system, involving the use of blockchain technology to accelerate and verification of financial transactions.
