Turkish police detained 24 suspects in hacking of 13 million pounds ($2,47 million) cryptocurrency companies from Istanbul, according to local newspaper Daily Sabah.
The company has addressed in police with the statement for theft from her a significant amount of BTC, ETH, and XPR. The Istanbul branch of the anti-cybercrime found that the virtual company account was hacked, and funds for 13 million pounds transferred to other accounts.
The police launched an operation to track the suspects and found that they communicated through the popular online multiplayer game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds studios PUBG Corporation.
During simultaneous operations conducted in Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Afyonkarahisar, Bursa, Edirne, Bolu and Antalya police detained 24 suspects. They had seized 54 thousand lire in cash and 1.3 million pounds of cryptocurrency. Funds were sent to the victim company.
After the court proceedings at the police station, the Prosecutor’s office released the two detainees. Six suspects, a court in Istanbul arrested, the remaining 16 released on condition of judicial control.
