The developers of Firefox in upcoming releases of popular web browsers implement to automatically lock programs for covert mining. This was reported in the company blog.

Representatives from the nonprofit organization Mozilla Foundation announced the intention in the new versions of the browser to block “harmful practices”. Some new features are already available in the beta version of Firefox Nightly.

According to the Vice-President of development Firefox nick Nguyen, one of the goals of the developers — to prevent third-party programs that can hamper the user experience. Such scripts are usually embedded into websites and can manage the processing power without the knowledge of user. Some programs use significant resources of devices with the hidden purpose of mining cryptocurrency.

“All the more common fraudulent practices that quietly collect user identifiable information or hinder the work of users” — said Nguyen, noting that future versions of Firefox will block such programs by default.

According to him, new features can appear at the release of Firefox 63.

Earlier, the Opera developers have added protection from the miners to the mobile version of the popular web browser.

Last month, Mozilla has integrated mobile Ethereum-wallet with the desktop version of the browser.
