The authorities of Beijing Chaoyang district, issued an official order banning the holding of cryptocurrency-related activities in offices, hotels, etc.

“According to the notification, in order to protect citizens’ property and status of legal tender, anti-money laundering and maintaining financial stability all outlets, hotels, restaurants, offices and other places should not in any form participate in the activities related to the promotion of cryptocurrencies”, — told the local financial regulator.

The notification was prepared on 17 August and sent to all named institutions this week, according to the report of the representative of the working group.

“In the last days we followed the risk of monetary circulation on the Internet and cryptocurrencies. Platform to manage your cryptocurrency assets called Bit-up recently carried out an illegal action to promote cryptocurrency that has not gone unnoticed by the regulator and caused the issue of this notice”, — said the source.

At the time of publication, the ban was extended just for the Chaoyang district, and the authorities of other districts of Beijing, while no action was taken.

In September last year, the Central Bank of China, supported by several ministries, has imposed a ban on the holding of ICO and trade cryptocurrencies, after which local crypto-exchanges have begun to migrate abroad. Later, the authorities attempted to limit the access of miners to electricity, although this activity remains legal in China.

Recently it became known about the closure of the accounts of the crypto media in the Chinese instant messenger WeChat.
