Bulgarian officials were arrested on suspicion of selling bitcoins for citizenship and passports of the country to the residents of Ukraine, Moldova and Macedonia. About it reports the local edition of NOVA.

In particular, for fraud was arrested the head of the State Agency for Bulgarians abroad Peter Haralampiev, as well as two employees of the Ministry Krasimir Volumes and Marco Stoilov.

As stated by the lawyers of the detainees, law enforcement bodies have no proofs of the guilt of their clients, but the Prosecutor claims the opposite.

“Bribery was in cryptocurrency, and we have the proof”, — said the chief Prosecutor of Bulgaria Ivan geshev.

Note, on 30 October, the Bulgarian police detained 20 people on suspicion of illegal sale of passports in the country.
