Today, June 20, one of the largest South Korean cryptocurrency exchanges Bithumb officially announced that in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday was the victim of a robbery.

Representatives of the exchange have not yet been reported in any cryptocurrency stored the stolen funds, but promised that the platform will compensate customers losses. Presumably, the hackers stole cryptocurrencies 35 billion won ($31 million).

After the robbery, other assets, according to the exchange, were moved to cold storage wallets. Also Bithumb warned investors that cease to provide services for depositing and withdrawal of funds and notify them to resume later.

Now intraday trading volume in Bithumb is $300 million; it is the sixth largest exchange in the world.

Yesterday’s robbery was the second incident of its kind over the past two weeks in South Korea. Thus, on 10 June had robbed a stock exchange Coinrail.
