Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin announced the transition of the ecosystem to the stage of Ethereum 2.0, which will be called Serenity. He said this during the conference Devcon4, which takes place these days in Prague.
According to him, a large-scale upgrade will be preceded by the activation of Casper and the transition to the algorithm Proof-of-Stake, sharding, update virtual machine (EWASM), change the cross-contract logic and the economy of the Protocol.

Buterin expects that the result of all these innovations the Ethereum network will be faster and safer, will become less energy intensive, and its capacity will exceed 1000 transactions per second.
Casper, which must be a transition algorithm for Ethereum Proof-of-Stake, has been in development for several years. Because of his Association with aimed at scalability with sharding project is also sometimes called Shasper, but, says Buterin that’s not the right name, and it is best to return to Serenity once proposed.
“Serenity is a global computer, and that’s what it should be, and not some smartphone 1999 where you can play “snake”, — he said.
On Devcon4 acne Buterin also made in a somewhat unusual role for himself, performing with several other participants of the conference a humorous song about the way Ethereum developer. Its chorus refers to the need BUIDL (to build, to create, by analogy with the word HODL in the bitcoin community) and that the blockchain is a new kind of world order, and developers should work and not to engage in ICO.
The author of the song — blockchain enthusiast and co-founder of the Rare Digitally Jonathan Mann. He also created the project Song A Day since 2009, when he first came up with this idea, he writes one song a day. Today it has more than 3200 songs.
We will remind, on the eve of the Devcon4 team popular Ethereum-wallet MetaMask announced the long-awaited launch of a mobile app.
